Stewart Lochrie owns Caledonian Learner Driver Training, a medium sized, multi car driving school based in Glasgow. After achieving his BTEC Level 4 Professional Award in Coaching for Driver Development in 2012, he joined the Tri-Coaching team as an aCCeLerate trainer.
Since joining the driver training industry he has worked with learner drivers, Provisional and Approved Driving Instructors, and has just launched a B+E test preparation course for people who need to tow trailers as part of their job responsibilities.
Thanks to Tri-Coaching Partnership, Stewart's main focus has become the development of ADIs through coaching and mentoring, helping them set up and run their own franchises and encouraging their professional development along the way. As well as running aCCeLerate courses, he provides Standards Check preparation for ADIs throughout Scotland and holds occasional talks on all the above topics. In 2017, Stewart joined the Governing Committee of the ADINJC and holds regular networking and training events throughout Scotland on their behalf.
Recently I had my Standards Check test, but before I had my test the opportunity came up where I could improve my skills not just for my test but to use in my everyday work. I booked the Tri-Coaching Partnership BTEC Level 3 course and was so surprised at how much had changed since I was a trainee. It was a 2 day course first day in the class room then the practical training in the car with Stewart Lochrie from Caledonian LDT. The training was not just informative, it was also fun and very practical. I use the training I was given and my students benefit. I've seen a massive improvement in not only my training but my students feel as though they have more say in their training. I would definitely recommend training with Tri-Coaching and Stewart.

"Hi Stewart,
I thoroughly enjoyed the course on Monday and definitely took a lot of new ideas and knowledge away with me! !
I have already been including some of the ideas and even gave 2 of my pupils the background of coaching and the new style of learning that might be of use to them and they both jumped at the opportunity! ! One relished the chance to drive unaided for a bit; and the other requested very soon that she drives to Arbroath as she has family there! so that is given me practice of GROW!
She also likes the idea of a reflection log as she has this for her school band! So all good so far Stewart! Thanks for your time and look forward to learning more on the BTEC 3 Cheers Andy"
“Stewart delivered a fantastic course. Right from the beginning to the end there was never a dull moment and I think he deserves a pay rise. I would recommend this course to anyone who has ambition and actually cares about their learners.” Andy Davie, Owner at Drive Scotland (Perth, Scotland) "I would thoroughly recommend the BTEC Level 3 course. It was informative and thought provoking, and Stewart is an excellent trainer.” Susan Mundy, ADI (Glasgow, Scotland)
“Mind blowing. Great to know I was already doing some of it, and I already know that it’s going to give me so much more job satisfaction. Thanks so much, Stewart.” Jean O’Brien, ADI (Fort William, Scotland)
“Hi Stewart, I really enjoyed the 2 days, as you know. We saw the benefits, heard the positive comments and felt the need to develop as coaches – is that all the Learning Styles covered? Fantastic course, assignments on their way soon!” Calum Kerr, Owner at Thistle Driving School (Glasgow, Scotland)
“I’d recommend Stewart to everyone looking to become an Approved Driving Instructor. The training and advice he gave me will stick with me for as long as I am an ADI, he certainly knows his stuff! I’m currently based in Perth but if I ever do move to Glasgow I would definitely work with Caledonian!” Debbie Sharp, Perth.Qualified as an ADI in January 2016 after training with Stewart and passing each of the exams first time
“I was recently trained by Caledonian LDT as an ADI, and received training specifically tailored to my development needs. The training was of a very high standard which fully prepared me for the DVSA examinations and I learned in a friendly relaxed learning environment where instruction, reflection and review were integral to the training programme. I would highly recommend Stewart and Caledonian LDT to anyone considering training to become a driving instructor.”Ian Harries, Airdrie. Qualified as an ADI February 2015
“I qualified as an ADI with Caledonian LDT last month, and I’ve been really happy with both my training and the level of encouragement from all the instructors at the school. Cliff and Stewart were both brilliant and it was actually a benefit having two trainers (after Cliff retired) as it helped me see different styles of role play in preparation for Part 3. I’ve now taken out a Franchise with Caledonian and am receiving loads of support and new business as I start to build up my reputation around East Kilbride. Thanks guys!” Louise Cave, East Kilbride. Qualified as an ADI in July 2015.
“The information provided on this course has completely changed my approach to delivering a driving lesson. Not only have my clients felt the benefits of this new way of thinking, but within two months of attending the course, I achieved a Grade A on my Standards Check by specifically using the skills I learned from Stewart. Professionally delivered, insightful and thought provoking, training with Stewart is highly recommended.” Nick Watson, Owner at Roadcraft Driver Coaching (Perth, Scotland)
