![]() I was talking to a friend’s son and he said, ‘My driving lessons are boring’, which got me thinking: how do we stimulate interest because as we all know some pupils are just hard work and that can switch off even the best ADI. Here is a suggestion that can help stimulate your lessons so why not try this out on your clients and see what happens. First of all, you need to get to know your client by asking the following questions: Do you know what your client’s driving interests are post-test? How does their personality affect their lessons? How might their personality affect their driving post-test or even on the test? What happens to you when they seem tired or disinterested? Once you have answered the questions above, you should be able to formulate an opinion of your client, which will help you create a scenario that is pertinent to their personality. You have 3 ways you can do this: it could be just a discussion; it could be recreated in their drive; or you could do both. By creating a scenario, such as, you have only 5 minutes to get from A-B to pick up your dream date (or whatever would motivate them) and you want to make a good impression, your mobile phone has no signal, and the journey takes 7 minutes if you stay within the speed limit. This kind of scenario encourages your client to reason what to do and then, if they actually drive, they can evaluate their driving, decide on the implications and the consequences of their actions or potential actions and make the lesson fit the sort of real-life situations that they are going to face once they pass the driving test. This will tackle all 4 levels of the Goals for Driver Education (GDE) and make your lessons fit the new standards. What we have noticed is that our customers, who complete our courses - including those who have completed the BTEC level 4 - have more fun by encouraging their learners to learn the way that has the best results for the learner. If you want to find out more then enrol on our next courses now at Sheffield, Newport Pagnell, Glasgow Because the results show that happy stimulated customers recommend more customers and those ADIs can charge more and get paid what they are worth.
