Hairdressers, driving instructors and people in lifts! You may well be asking what hairdressers, driving instructors and people in lifts have in common. The answer - personal space. We give hairdressers permission to invade our personal space and, as driving instructors, we may need to negotiate invading someone's personal space in an effort to manage risk. This may involve getting closer to someone than would normally feel comfortable in a confined area. We know the rules where we may be forced to invade each other's personal space eg. the uncomfortable experience we all face in a lift! The rules are:
Intimate space - the space reserved for family, close friends and people we are in a relationship with - is between 15 - 45 centimetres (6 - 18 inches). Personal space - the space that is comfortable in social situations or parties for example - is between 46 -122 cm (18 - 48 inches). With this in mind your rapport building skills have to be excellent; your awareness of your body language and your ability to listen to the client and read their body language has never been more essential. In an age where we are being encouraged to raise our awareness of how others feel, are you switched on to being able to manage training in these close spaces? How can we manage that personal space? The BTEC 4 Professional Award in coaching for driver development will help you analyse what you do well and give you the opportunity to focus on those softer skills, that we often take for granted. As you can never know what your client is actually thinking or feeling, developing a relationship, where both you and the client can be open and honest about their thoughts and feelings, is taking your driver training to the next level. Have a look at what ADIs around the country have said about their experiences on the Train the Trainer Course...
Jane Jackson The Training we received on the Train the Trainer course was excellent. Delivered in clear and manageable sections with extensive course material to take away and digest. The in-car session was incredibly enlightening. Would definitely recommend. James Hankins I spent a brilliant couple of days with Tri Coaching in Wetherby developing my skills and thus gaining the confidence I need to deliver instructor training. Their approach is first rate and absolutely world class, would recommend to any ADI. Elton Taylor The training I received was by far the most enjoyable and productive than any other. Susan and Graham really know their stuff and manage to share their knowledge in a very relaxed and holistic way. I find myself thinking and processing more and more about the training as time passes and I feel that I now have more tools to be the best trainer I can possibly be. If you want to develop yourself or your business in the industry Tri-coaching is not only the best option, it the only one. Steven Shaw Received another positive experience from these guys, a well informative and put together course bringing all the key elements together in manageable chucks without the fear of being over-loaded. A good delivery through-out with hands-on experience. Martin Bailey I have just completed the Train the Trainer course, another brilliant course. The following is the review I left after the BTEC 4 course and I can echo these sentiments completely after attending this course. …I have just completed the 'BTEC Level 4, Coaching for Driver Development'. I highly recommend this course. The course is very well structured with plenty of time to practice the learning from the classroom sessions and complete the assignments. I found the course serious, but fun, meeting some great fellow ADI's. The course would be good value for money if it was being led by only one of the top trainers in the country, but this course is exceptional value as you get two of the top trainers in the country, Susan McCormack and Graham Hooper. Sue and Graham were always on hand to offer help and advice. I am not overstating when I say that this course has changed the way I teach/coach and live drastically for the better. I am sure my clients are benefiting from this by being engaged in their learning and becoming safer thinking drivers. I cannot stop here, I have now enrolled in the Train the Trainer course which I am looking forward to attending in January. Thank you Sue and Graham! Liz Guidi The Tri coaching partnership are the people to train with , I would highly recommend them. I've just completed the two day Train the Trainer course and the course and the training materials are so well laid out and structured you can't go wrong! Thanks again to this amazing team Tony Robinson ADI Completed the train the trainer course in Warrington over the last 2 days. I have to say I was a little apprehensive and confused as to how the TCIT worked. But believe me when I say it's a fantastic, informative and all together refreshing course. Meeting like minded trainers and sharing experiences was invaluable. Our trainers for the course were Susan McCormack and Diane Diamond. What these two ladies and in fact Tri coaching don't know about the driving industry and the most up to date training techniques is absolutely not worth knowing. Worth every single penny. If you're considering going into instructor training or just want to get up to speed and improve your skills. Then these guys are second to none.Thank you Tri coaching......for waking me up! WebsiteIf you are not yet a DVSA Driving Instructor use the link below to find out more! Driving Instructor Training If you think you can't, you can't and if you think you can, you can! Some people have the idea that your talents and competence are pretty much fixed at birth; you know, some people are born good at something and our skill is just part of who we are. This theory is known as the 'entity theory'. Then there are those of us who believe that we are capable of change and development, this is known as the 'incremental theory’. You know the old adage, if you think you can't, you can't and if you think you can, you can? The good news is there was a study published in 2006 in The Journal of Personality and Psychology, that found those who believed in being able to change are those who are more likely to succeed. If you have the belief that you can master new skills, it makes it far more likely you will. Let your potential be your guide rather than your current ability. If you are looking for success, then start to look in a positive environment and join a learning environment, where people focus on creating positive change. Creating a positive development cycle starts with what you already know, and this is your foundation for learning more. Then, new learning builds on and reinforces what you already know, when given the right support you end up with a really solid skill set.

This course is just what you need to help you understand what is required for the standards check. The course is well worth the money. I will be revisting the course again in the future. Jonathan Cole I have just attended TCP Standards Check Workshop, the course was nothing short of fantastic, the model for goal setting and risk management was worth the money alone , Ray explained everything and was clear and concise throughout. I’d recommend this course to any instructor looking for clarity in regards to the Standards Check. I have been on another Standards Check Course not related to Tri Coaching and the difference in favour of Tri Coaching is beyond night and day . Roll on Btec 4 Module 3 in a couple of weeks . Tri Coaching are the only company to help Driving Instructors looking for Development Graeme Orr Excellent session, most informative, professionally delivered. Most impressed with 'Zoom'.
